1.  Check that the donor has not been eating/drinking/smoking for at least 10 minutes. 2.  Actively swab around the cheeks, gums and under the tongue for 1 minute. 3.  Insert the collector into the red sample well at the bottom - and wait 2 minutes. 4.  Check that the QA spot™ on top has turned purple. 5.  Read the alcohol concentration from the point of the scale where the purple bar stops. Accurate and Blood-equivalent In clinical trials, saliva alcohol levels measured with Q.E.D. demonstrated high correlation to blood analysed by gas chromatography (r = 0.98) and produced no false positive or false negative results. Workplace Testing  Q.E.D. can be used as an accurate screen in place of blood tests and is approved by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for mandatory workplace programs.
